On March 31, 2022, Pono was the Closing Plenary speaker at the 19th International Summit of the Institute on Violence, Abuse and Trauma. As he mentions in his address, this event was carefully selected as his first public appearance in over 2 years, through which he intended to share stories as-of-yet not revealed.

Pono wished for all of us to grow our own medicine within, and knew that we often need the eyes of another to begin to see our own value. He left for us these “hidden objects,” messages and love woven into his words, with every interaction.
